Back cover: Quercetin Attenuates Ethanol ‐Induced Iron Uptake and Myocardial Injury by Regulating the Angiotensin II‐L‐Type Calcium Channel

Mol. Nutr. Food Res. 2018, 62, 1700772 DOI: 10.1002/mnfr.201700772 Alcohol abuse increases the level of Ang II, which in turn upregulates the expression of LTCC in the myocardium, and then transports more non‐transferrin‐bound‐iron into the cardiomyocytes, aggravating oxidative damage resulting from iron overload. Ang II/LTCC‐mediated iron overload and alcoholic myocardiopathy is blocked by naturally occurring quercetin in various foods, including pomegranate (Punica granatum). This research is described by Chao Gao, Ping Yao, and co‐workers in article number 1700772.
