Repair of composite resin restorations

Composite resins are popular choices for restorations, offering many advantages that both patients and dentists find attractive. However, they tend to have a limited service life and are prone to failure as a result of biological, mechanical, and/or esthetic reasons. Clinicians are then faced with the choice to replace or repair the restoration. With the emphasis on conservative treatment and based on the advantages of repair over replacement, clinicians often choose to repair. However, no practice guidelines exist outlining the indications and operative techniques for repair of restorations.
