Identification and characterisation of RNA editing sites in chloroplast transcripts of einkorn wheat (Triticum monococcum)

This study reported the chloroplast RNA editing in einkorn wheat, which laid the foundation for further study on the biological function of chloroplast RNA editing in wheat, and also provided the important information to reveal the origin and evolution of wheat from the perspective of RNA editing. RNA editing sites in chloroplast transcript of three einkorn wheat species were identified using bioinformatics analysis and experimental method. RNA editing altered the secondary structures of the target protein to result in biological effect. The conserved and speciesā€specific editing sites were found through comparative analysis of einkorn wheat and other Triticum species.
