Funding Tip 1 – Talk it through

Introducing a new service from the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, Middle Atlantic Region – weekly funding tips will run from now until the middle of April. The first week of March, NNLM MAR will announce a new round of funding up to $19,000 for health information awareness and outreach projects in NY, NJ, PA and DE. Once we announce, you will have just a few weeks to submit an application. Now is the time to think about how you could increase knowledge of National Library of Medicine and other reliable sources amongst your co-workers, students, community partners, professional organization, or clients/patients/patrons. This week’s tip: Talk it through! Now is the time to talk to potential stakeholders, such as: Community members who will participate in and benefit from your project People who serve the community you are trying to reach, such as teachers, health care providers, or volunteers in health care organizations Outreach project staff, who will want to be sure that investment of their time will be effective and worthwhile Managers who oversee the staff who are directly involved with the project and want to use their human resources wisely Leaders of partnering community-based organizations, who will want to make sure their participation or endorsement of your project reflects positively on the organization Source: Getting Started with Community Outreach (NNLM Evaluation Office) Do you know who else you should talk to?
