CDC Guidelines for Treating Pregnant and Parenting Women with Opioid Use Disorder
The U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) has released a new tool to assist health care providers in caring for pregnant women and new mothers with opioid use disorder and their infants. Clinical Guidance for Treating Pregnant and Parenting Women with Opioid Use Disorder and Their Infants includes 16 fact sheets, with each fact sheet containing four elements:
• clinical scenario
• clinical action steps
• supporting evidence and clinical considerations
• web resources
SAMHSA developed the Clinical Guidance to meet an urgent need among health care professionals for reliable, useful, and accurate information when caring for these populations.
