A response to Sabatino et  al 2015 regarding Italian nurse education and practice

Sabatino et  al. (2015) in a new study of Italian nursing students' views on developing professional identity in practice provided an extraordinary insight into aspects of contemporary nurse education and practice. They have revealed nursing students' experiences in the clinical area related to factors that ei ther promoted or diminished their professional identity and professional respect. Not only have these interviews demonstrated for the first time the lived experience of Italian nursing students, moreover it has drawn attention to unresolved care deficits, and students' responses to this in a remarka ble way.
