Choroidal Nevi in the Singapore Epidemiology of Eye Disease Study
Choroidal nevus is a common intraocular tumor. Although choroidal nevus is usually a benign lesion, it has been associated with increased risk of developing uveal melanoma, and when located in the subfoveal region, it may affect vision. Only a few population-based studies have examined choroidal nevi on the basis of retinal photographs using standardized protocols. Such epidemiologic data are even more limited in Asia, with prevalence rates reported to widely range from 0.15% to 2.9% among different Asian populations.
