Bridging the Gap: One Nursing School's Response to Clinical Evaluation Challenges

This article describes the experience of an associate degree nursing program as they developed a clinical evaluation tool based on entry-level registered nurse competencies, Quality and Safety Education for Nurses concepts, Massachusetts Department of Higher Education Nurse of the Future Competencies, and their end-of-program learning outcomes. The result is an effective tool, which facilitates the students' and faculty abilities to evaluate clinical performance objectively based on observed behaviors versus a checklist methodology.
