What is a Community Living Room?

For immigrants coming to this country with little money, living conditions cannot always be called “family friendly”. For many this may consist of an entire family living in one room, not what we would traditionally call a home. For many people in this situation, the local YMCA in San Francisco is helping build a sense of community. Twice a week they open their doors and kitchens, so that families can eat together at a table, adults can talk and the children can play in what they call a community living room. Enabling families to enjoy just being together and creating a community with those in similar situations. For more information see: https://news.nnlm.gov/bhic/o2dq
