Internet Gaming Disorder Scale: Arabic version validation

Background and aim The aim of this study was to test the reliability and validity of the Arabic version of the Internet Gaming Disorder Scale (IGD Scale). The original version was developed to measure IGD on the basis of the proposed nine criteria of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 5th ed. (DSM-5). Individuals and methods The scale had been adapted into Arabic. The two versions were compared by experts to ensure their consistency and then the two versions were administered to bilingual individuals who played internet games. Then, the Arabic version was distributed among 204 university students, age 18–20 years, who played internet games. Results The data were collected from university students aged from 18 to 20 years. The statistical analysis of the Arabic version of the scale indicated that the Arabic/English validity was satisfactory, with appropriate internal consistency and reliability.
