Crohn's disease

Crohn ’s Disease (CD) is one of the two major categories of chronic relapsing inflammatory intestinal disorders under the term – inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Crohn’s Disease was first described in a case series of 14 patients by Dr. Burrill B. Crohn (1884–1983) along with two of his colleague s at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City in May, 1932. This disease affects almost 800,000 Americans, with the highest prevalence among adolescents and young adults. Up to 20% of CD affected individuals will have a first degree relative with IBD.
