Outcome Measures in Neurologic Physical Therapy

JNPT and the Neurology Section have undertaken a number of initiatives in the past few years to highlight the importance of using standarized outcome measures with patients with neurological disorders across the continuum of care. In June of 2011 JNPT published a special issue on measures of outcomes, members of the Section developed and taught a continuing education course entitled the NeuroToolBox, and the section is currently developing recommendations for use of specific outcome measures with specific patient populations across different practice settings.  Outcome measures can be used to measure change, assist with developing the plan of care, justifying PT services to third party payers, and enhance communication.  For what reasons do you use outcome measures? Do you select outcome measures across the ICF model? What outcome measures do you find particularly useful and why?Related Resources Volume 35 Issue 2 Published: 1/26/2012 11:04:00 AM
