Esthetics and smile ‐related characteristics assessed by laypersons

ConclusionsAttractive full‐smiles in young Chinese subjects demonstrated higher frequencies of average or low anterior smile line, average or low posterior smile line, upward upper lip curvature, and “broad and short” smile with high smile index.
Clinical SignificanceThe smile variables of anterior smile line, posterior smile line, upper lip curvature, and smile index are predominant factors of smile attractiveness, which should be given priority to consider and manage in the anterior esthetic treatment plan.
