Large Area of Myelinated Retinal Nerve Fibers

A 28-year-old man presented with left eye trauma. During the examination, the ophthalmologist found the right retina had a large area myelinated retinal nerve fibers (MRNF), reaching to the equator but without coverage of the area of macula lutea. His best corrected visual acuity was 1/20 in the right eye. He had a history of high myopia and amblyopia for 10 years. Extensive MRNF are known to be associated with ipsilateral myopia and amblyopia (Fig 1A shows the fundus, Fig1B shows the OCT). MRNF are seen as grey-white patches well-demarcated along the retinal nerve fiber layer.
