Recurrent transient global amnesia: is there a link to familial history?

Although most episodes of transient global amnesia (TGA) are single or unique, there is a low recurrence rate. The factors associated with recurrence are uncertain. In this article, Dr Larner describes a patient with recurrent TGA and a positive family history, which prompted consideration of the possible role of genetic factors in TGA recurrence.
