Tumour angiogenesis: Controlling nerves

Nature Reviews Cancer 17, 708 (2017). doi:10.1038/nrc.2017.107 Author: Ulrike Harjes Sympathetic nerves associate with tumours and regulate the tumour microenvironment. How this innervation promotes tumorigenesis is unclear. A new study in Science shows that β-adrenergic signalling controls tumour growth by promoting tumour angiogenesis, through the regulation of vascular metabolism.
