Forensic evaluation of reliability on STR typing in lung cancer
Short tandem repeats (STRs), alsoknownasmicrosatellites, are genomic DNA sequences that consist of repeatingunits (2 - 6 bp) [1]. In eukaryotic genomes, STRs are extensively distributed in non-codingregions and characterizedby co-dominant inheritance, high levels ofpolymorphisms, high reliability and goodreproducibility; thus making them effective for forensic analysis [1,2]. Assecond generation genetic marks, STRs are broadly used in forensics for personal identification and paternity testing [2 –4].
