Geriatric nursing and resilience in the midst of tropical storm Harvey

As I write this the country has undergone multiple major natural disasters and we have seen, heard, read, or lived through stories of the impact this has had on older adults across all settings of care. For those of us in states not affected by the storms we wondered how we would manage in our own facilities should a storm, flood, tornado or other type of disaster hit our areas. The pictures of the older women in the Dickinson nursing home sitting in waist-high water in their wheelchairs haunt us all.
