Pharmacy practice in Pakistan: The Catch-22 continues

The transition of pharmacy education in recent years resulted in the emergence of a new academic domain that focused on building professional roles of pharmacists.1 Specialized subjects such as clinical pharmacy, pharmaceutical marketing& management and community& dispensing pharmacy etc were grouped together under a single umbrella termed as the Pharmacy Practice. Inline to the international requirements, the Department of Pharmacy Practice in Pakistan was formally introduced in 2014.2 However, it was perceived that the new domain will be intruded by the traditional and dominant sectors of pharmaceutical education because of the scarcity of qualified pharmacy practice academicians and practitioners in Pakistan.
