Impaired autophagy and transthyretin protein aggregation in early onset preeclampsia
Purpose: Transthyretin (TTR), a transporter of thyroxine and retinol, is aggregated in human placentas, and the aggregated TTR induces preeclampsia-like features in the humanized mouse model (Am J Paho, 2013). We also have reported that impairment of autophagy contributed to protein aggregation in preeclamptic placentas. The purpose of this study is to clarify the correlation between TTR aggregation and autophagy, which maintains homeostasis.
