Proximal humerus fractures are among the most common injuries among elderly patients and those with osteoporosis.1 –3 Recent epidemiologic studies showed an increase in the incidence of proximal humerus fractures that may be associated with the aging population.3–5 As of 2005, proximal humerus fractures were the third most common osteoporotic fracture in the United States.6 The ideal management of proximal humerus fractures remains controversial.
