TERT promoter mutation and its interaction with IDH mutations in glioma: Combined TERT promoter and IDH mutations stratifies lower-grade glioma into distinct survival subgroups —A meta-analysis of aggregate data

Gliomas are common brain tumors in both adults and children (Louis et al., 2016). For decades, the classification and the standard clinical approach to gliomas have been largely based on the histological features of these tumors (Louis et al., 2016). However, a wide range of clinical heterogeneities have been observed among tumors within the same histologic type (Eckel-Passow et al., 2015). These inconsistencies in the clinical course and outcome of gliomas within the same histologic type have been one of the major challenges in the clinical practice of neuro-oncology (Chan et al., 2015b).
