Demodex Clusters

A 66-year-old woman with a 2-year history of recurrent infections presented with foreign body sensation, itching, and  red eye. Eye examination revealed meibomian gland dysfunction, cylindrical dandruff, and lid margin telangiectasia (Fig 1A). A clinical diagnosis of demodecosis was confirmed by eyelash epilation and fluorescein 0.25% dye. Massive infestation was found (Fig 1B, eyelash follicle [arrow], adult mite s [asterisks]), and cluster formations detected (Fig 1C and D, mouth [red arrow], legs [black arrows]).
