The consequences of sleep disruption in hospitalized patients include worsening of the patient's cardiopulmonary status, impairment of the patient's psychiatric and cognitive health, and a negative impact on the patient's overall well-being. Therefore, the identification, evaluation, and treatment of common sleep disturbances and sleep disordered breathing are of utmost important in managing hospitalized patients.
