Clinical, laboratory and virological data from suspected ZIKV patients in an endemic arbovirus area
Since 2015, Brazil is facing the challenge of the co-circulation of three arboviruses of major public health importance [1]. For the last 30 years, Dengue virus (DENV) infection has been the main mosquito-transmitted threat in the country, which has suffered several epidemics caused by all four serotypes, and fostered by the widespread presence of its main vector, Aedes aegypti, in densely populated urban areas [2 –4]. In spite of all efforts, a sustained reduction of the Aedes aegypti population has not been achieved [5–7].
