New Journal for Data Set Descriptions Launches

A new open-access, peer-reviewed publication for descriptions of datasets is now available.  Scientific Data is an online-only journal from Nature Publishing Group that aims to make valuable scientific data easier to discover, interpret, and reuse. Scientific Data’s main article type, called the Data Descriptor, provides an in-depth look at research datasets. These articles include descriptions of the methods used to collect the data and technical analyses supporting the quality of the measurements. With a focus on biomedical, life, and environmental science datasets, the journal provides a way to recognize scientists who invest in making valuable, high-quality datasets that may not qualify for publication in traditional journals. Authors keep the copyright for their Data Descriptor, and they may authorize reuse through a Creative Commons license.   Learn more about Scientific Data.
