ConclusionPredominant discourses in pediatric dentistry suggest a paternalistic, behaviorist approach to the ‘management’ of children in the dental office, focused primarily on completing interventions. Priorities for the future development of pediatric dentistry are discussed, integrating more child‐centered approaches.
