Oviductal fl uid fl ow is important for the transport of gametes and embryos. Each ciliated epithelial cell has 200–300 cilia, and their continuous beating generates unidirectional fl ow of oviductal fl uid. Yoshimoto et al. (this issue) report that Adrenomedullin, a peptide hormone belonging to the Calcitonin/Calcitonin gene‐related peptide/Amylin family, increases oviductal fl uid fl ow speed via Receptor‐activity modifying protein 2 (RAMP2, green), a component of the Adrenomedullin receptor family. This receptor is expressed only on ciliated epithelium, as identifi ed by acetylated tubulin (red) in this image of the bovine oviduct ampulla.
