Neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin in cats with chronic renal disease

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is gradually progressive and is an irreversible disease in cats. The prevalence of CKD in cats has been reported to range from 1.6 to 20%, and the prevalence is increased to 31% in cats>15 years of age. Evaluation of CKD has mainly relied on testing renal function. Glomerular filtration rate (GFR) is considered to be the best index of renal function.
