It is morphologically characterized by a small-sized basidioma, a yellow pileal surface without an orange tinge, a smooth to faintly veined hymenophore, smaller basidiospores, and its association with the Lithocarpus in tropical China. The phylogenetic analysis of DNA sequences from the translation elongation factor 1-α gene (TEF1) also confirms that it forms an independent lineage within the subgenus Cantharellus. A detailed description, color photos of fresh basidiomata and line-drawings of microstructures are presented.
