June 27 is National HIV Testing Day

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), about 50,000 people get infected with HIV each year in the United States. However, 1 in 6 people living with HIV don’t know that they are infected. National HIV Testing Day is observed each year on June 27 to highlight the importance of HIV testing. CDC recommends that everyone between the ages of 13 and 64 get tested for HIV at least once as part of their routine health care. Regardless of age, people at high risk of HIV should get tested more often.
