Health care and nursing policy: Impact of the Campaign for action to increase consumer access to care

Healthcare in the United States is changing rapidly. Our population is aging and a growing number of Americans have health conditions that require significant amounts of complex care.13 The supply of providers has not kept pace with the rising demand for health care: 68 million Americans live in areas with a shortage of primary care providers.6
