The annual microbiome award holders meeting

Investment in microbiome researchThe microbiome is increasingly recognised as influencing health and disease. To help clarify the role of the microbiome in musculoskeletal disease, we have funded several awards in this area; our portfolio of microbiome research awards is currently made up of one prestigious programme grant, five pathfinder awards and two strategic awards. Our total investment in this area is almost£5 million. Combined, the projects will provide short and long-term support to build expertise in this field of research, and progress our understanding of the role of the microbiome in arthritis. The annual microbiome award holders meetingThe first annual microbiome award holders meeting was held at the Academy of Medical Sciences in London on Tuesday 6 June. This multi-disciplinary meeting was a chance for our microbiome award holders to network, update each other on their research developments and begin to develop collaborations for future funding applications.Thank you to all the attendeesThe meeting was very successful, thanks in no small part to the range of excellent talks given.
