Autologous Blood Collection in Canada

Background: The Choosing Wisely Canada campaign released the eighth CSTM recommendation in June 2015: Do not routinely order perioperative autologous and directed blood collection. This recommendation and change in transfusion practice prompted a review of the current state of the Canadian autologous blood collections.
