A Multimodal Spatiotemporal Cardiac Motion Atlas from MR and Ultrasound Data

Better understanding the motion of the heart through the cardiac cycle is crucial in aiding diagnosis in a wide range of cardiovascular pathologies as well as for the optimisation of related clinical procedures. In recent years, statistical cardiac atlases have been proposed as a way of analysing cardiac motion in the context of population variation. However, to date, all such techniques have been based on motion information estimated from a single imaging modality. Several factors suggest that information from multiple modalities may be complementary and offer advantages.
