Screening of obstructive sleep apnea by STOP-BANG questionnaire in patients with epilepsy

I read with great interest the manuscript entitled “The STOP-BANG questionnaire improves the detection of epilepsy patients at risk for obstructive sleep apnea,” published recently in Epilepsy Research (Sharma et al., 2017). The authors conducted a screening of epilepsy patients for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) using the STOP-BANG questionnaire (Chung et al., 2008). Of 269/647 patients (41.6%) who were screened for OSA, 84 met the criteria for elevated OSA risk with STOP-BANG score ≥3. During the subsequent 3 month period, 12 of the 33 screening-positive patients visited the sleep clinic.
