Front cover: Health benefits of methylxanthines in neurodegenerative diseases

Mol. Nutr. Food Res. 2017, 61, 1600670. DOI: 10.1002/mnfr.201600670 The long‐term moderate consumption of caffeine in coffee, theobromine in cocoa or theophylline in tea, is reviewed. It is shown that this long‐term moderate consumption engages a variety of neuroprotective molecular mechanisms leading to a reduced risk of suffering from some neurodegenerative diseases.
