Dermatitis treatment licensed for cats

Dechra Veterinary Products has announced that Sporimune, its ciclosporin oral solution for the treatment of atopic dermatitis in dogs, has now also been licensed for the symptomatic treatment of chronic allergic dermatitis in cats. The company says that in cats with allergic dermatitis, ciclosporin has proved to be an effective alternative to prednisolone. It adds that ciclosporin has a long-term safety record for chronic treatment of canine atopic dermatitis, and that it is one of the most important tools within a multimodal treatment strategy. Sporimune is presented as a liquid formulation and is available in three bottle sizes. It is available with two dosing syringes – one for cats and one for dogs – that are graduated by bodyweight and ml. Broached bottles last for six months.
