ShapeCut: Bayesian Surface Estimation Using Shape-Driven Graph

Medical image segmentation typically deals with partitioning an image into multiple regions representing anatomical objects of interest. A three-dimensional segmentation can be viewed as either apixel classification (defining regions) or a surface estimation (boundaries of regions), and in this paper we deal with the latter approach. Heterogeneous pixel intensities, noisy diffuse boundaries and irregular shapes are some factors that make it difficult to develop accurate, robust segmentation algorithms for certain classes of images and anatomy.
