Framing childhood mental disorders within the context of disability

The prevalence and severity of mental health conditions in childhood is on the rise. Despite the high rates of disability associated with pediatric mental health disorders, there is limited understanding of their disabling impacts in childhood. Using the international classification of functioning, health and disability (ICF) to provide the conceptual framework for disability related to mental health problems in childhood, the authors sought to provide a review of the changing nature of children's health and disability with a focus on mental health conditions.
