Role of allopregnanolone biosynthesis in acute stress ‐induced anxiety‐like behaviors in mice

Finasteride, which is a 5α‐reductase inhibitor, pretreated immobilization‐stressed mice decreased the % of time spent in open arms of EPM test. In contrast, alfaxalone, the ALLO mimetic drug, increased the % of time spent in open arms of EPM test in finasteride (10mg/kg)‐pretreated immobilization‐stressed mice. Therefore, ALLO biosynthesis may contribute to stress resistance.
