Expression of cathepsin D and BCL-2 in colorectal carcinoma, and their correlation with proliferation indices
Conclusion: Cathepsin D immunoreactivity was detected in a high percentage of cancer cells and stromal cells of CRCs and correlated with aggressive parameters, which points to its role in dissemination of cancer cells. BCL-2 expression was detected at a relatively lower percentage; however, it correlated with high proliferation indices, suggesting its role in the progression of CRC. Further studies are required to rule out a link between cathepsin D and BCL-2 in CRC for the potential of therapeutic targeting by GX15-070.
