Front cover: A functional pseudogene, NMRAL2P, is regulated by Nrf2 and serves as a coactivator of NQO1 in sulforaphane ‐treated colon cancer cells

Mol. Nutr. Food Res. 2017, 61, 1600769. DOI: 10.1002/mnfr.201600769 Pseudogenes have been viewed, historically, as nonfunctional DNA sequences with close homology to other functional protein‐coding genes. NmrA‐like redox sensor 2 (NMRAL2P) is a novel functional pseudogene, the first to be identified both as a direct transcriptional target of Nrf2, and as a downstream co‐regulator of Nrf2‐dependent gene activation in response to sulforaphane treatment.
