High-accuracy Detection of Airway Obstruction in Asthma Using Machine Learning Algorithms and Forced Oscillation Measurements

According to the World Health Organization, asthma is a serious global health problem with an estimated 300 million people affected worldwide and 250,000 deaths annually [1]. One of the main pathologic features of asthma is airway obstruction, which is proportional to the severity of disease and its cost. The assessment of airway obstruction is also important in the diagnosis and monitoring of the course of the disease, as well as, in evaluating the changes resulting from the treatment [2]. This is usually analyzed by spirometry and body plethysmography.
