Glial Heterotopia of the Postauricular Region: A New Location

Glial heterotopia is a rare benign congenital lesion of the head and neck that consists of normal brain tissue in an abnormal location and has no connection with the central nervous system. It tends to be midline but can be found in other locations. It can easily be confused with lymphatic malformations as the appearance on imaging and the clinical course can mimic this entity. We encountered a glial heterotopia that was misdiagnosed as a lymphatic malformation and treated with sclerotherapy, but soon after was diagnosed and cured with surgical excision.
