An Enhancement Method for Color Retinal Images Based on Image Formation Model

Retinal imaging is widely used in medical diagnosis of ocular diseases such as glaucoma, cataract, age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy in recent years [1]. As a standard image modality, fundus camera is usually used to acquire retinal images, showing structures like optic disc, retinal vessels and several other. The changes detected in these structures can be indicative of a pathological condition associated with diseases such as glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy, which can further be confirmed by performing detailed analysis of these retinal images.
