Statistical Tools for the Temporal Analysis and Classification of Lung Lesions
According to GLOBOCAN, lung cancer is one of most common types of cancer worldwide, and has a high morbidity rate [1]. Statistics from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) [2] show that despite a reduction in the number of cases of lung cancer, its rate of occurrence in the United States remains high. In Brazil, the situation is similar. It is the second most frequently occurring type of cancer among men, and the fourth among women [3]. In addition, according to the NCI the five-year survival rate is only 16.6% [1] in the United States.
