Response to the letter to the Editor on “The United States Pediatric Cardiology 2015 Workforce Assessment: A Survey of Current Training and Employment Patterns"

We appreciate the comments of Drs. Alsaied and James regarding the recently published 2015 Cardiology Work Force survey results. We agree that it is crucial to encourage and recruit highly skilled and motivated residents into our field going forward. We are also encouraged by the success of all trainees in obtaining jobs. It may be that the perceived difficulties in finding employment in certain subspecialties relate to the distance applicants had to go to find a job in their area of expertise, or even taking a position in cardiology outside of their area of extra training.
