Prognostic impact of EGFR and cytokeratin 5/6 immunohistochemical expression in triple-negative breast cancer
Triple-negative breast cancers (TNBC) constitute about 10% –17% of all breast carcinomas worldwide and it is defined by the lack of estrogen receptor (ER), progesterone receptor (PR), and human epidermal growth factor-2 (Her2neu) expressions. It is common among young African, African American, and Latino women [1]. Triple-negative breast cancers usually e xpress a unique molecular profile, unfavorable behavior, and specific patterns of metastasis, including mostly the liver, central nervous system, and lungs [2].
