Foreword

The eye is a potential target organ for systemic pathology caused by drugs, connective tissue diseases, infections, and vascular disease. These clinical presentations can initially appear as a common or mundane complaint, but can progress to serious pathology if not recognized. Dr. Lisa Thompson and her colleagues from the Division of Ophthalmology at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County in Chicago, Illinois, present a comprehensive overview of several of these issues. This will become a valuable resource for any primary care physician who encounters these vexing problems.
